Museum of gold and the Bessa

The museum cell of Vermogno is located in the old school house of the hamlet. It shows the history of uninterrupted gold prospecting in the Bessa area and the North of Italy which dates back to Roman times and takes in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Different techniques of gold extraction and processing are on display along with geological and archeological research. From here it is possible to follow various walking itineraries , also accompanied by a guide, which take in the great mounds of stones, the washing channels and the sandy deposits along the Elvo river where it is still possible to pan for gold yourself.
