A side of the industry, the Biellese offers a pristine environment to be discovered. Four are the recognized Natural Reserves from the Piedmont Region:
THE NATURAL RESERVE OF THE “BURCINA PARK”
The Burcina Park covers an entire hill on the outskirts of the city, result of the untiring work of four generations of industrial wool manufacturers of Pollone. half the 1800's began the plan of transformation and reforestation of the hill that led to the excellent example of park, crossed by paths and trails that allow advancing in vegetation and observe exotic plants. The park, whose paths are always immersed in thrilling entertainment, is best known for the extraordinary flowering of spring conca rhododendron, where you can admire more than 150 varieties from the Caucasus and Asia Minor who find here an environment particularly favorable and can reach even 10 meters in height.
THE NATURAL RESERVE OF THE BESSA
The transformation of the landscape that created the Natural Reserve of Bessa goes back to ancient times. Gold mine in the open air of Roman origin, is presented as an alternation of valleys of dense vegetation and piles of river pebbles high up to 20 meters. Between II and the first century. a.C. i Vittimuli, the local population subjugated by the Romans, almost completely cover the field and their work for selection of materials and waste is now the largest well-represented by stretches of heaps, which make the Bessa a site unique in the world.
THE ORIENTATED RESERVE OF “BARAGGE”
An amazing landscape similar to the African savannah, apparentemete boundless and framed by its fifth of the Biella Alps, is found in the Nature Reserve of Baragge, characterized by extensive grasslands and heaths which rise isolated farnie and secular oaks. In this place the original forest structure has been transformed by man over the centuries with the progressive deforestation and the widespread practice performance for grazing.
THE ZEGNA OASIS
Covering the Panoramic road Zegna we enter in the Zegna Oasis, a mountain of about 100 km2 involved in an innovative plan of naturalistic valorization: trails, explanatory panels, maps, tables pans allow you to discover the flora and fauna an alpine environment, enjoy spectacular views of the plain, on Valsessera and Monte Rosa. The twenty-eight marked trails offer everyone the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature: from the short walk through the valley of rhododendrons to observe closely the multicolored flowering until the itinerary for two days on the traces of Fra' Dolcino.
