Route
The trip starts near Oropa Sanctuary and allows you to climb up to Lake delle Bose, which is often frozen in winter. During the route, you will be able to admire interesting and special views towards the Oropa Sanctuary and admire the summit of Mount Mucrone.
The trip presents no particular difficulty and is ideal for those who want to experiment with or become familiar with snowshoe hiking.
However, check the snow conditions and consider that the winter mountain, in all its forms, is a potentially difficult and dangerous terrain. Adequate experience, training and preparation is required.
Once parked, it is necessary to head left, up the slope, past the ski school and skating rink and across the cross-country track, along path D11a. You then pass the small Coronation Chapel and gain elevation in the forest, following the signs for Pian di Gè, through beech, pine and oak trees. With a few hairpin bends, you reach near a junction that leads to the nearby Lake delle Bose.
From the lake you can either return along the ascent route or continue along path D11, which, in about 1 hour 30 minutes, will take you back to the Sanctuary of Oropa
