Access and parking

Route

From the car park, head in the direction of the Il Castagneto restaurant and take the uphill tarmac road that is just round the corner (signs). Among imposing, solitary beech trees and magnificent chestnut trees, the tarmacked road gradually climbs uphill, heading east and skirting beautiful meadows and a few farm buildings. This takes you to Piani di Barbato and the road makes a wide bend and heading westward. The route continues on an asphalt road with a gentle, steady climb. When in sight of an interesting ruin with a turret, you arrived at the Prapiano plateau, a bucolic and panoramic location. Past the farmhouse, the asphalt soon gives way to a gravel road to reach still climbing gradually, an open space near the Caramezzana stream, arriving at the highest point of the entire route. Here turn sharply to the left, downhill, onto an old, somewhat degraded gravel road. At the end of the descent, turn left (note: the sign to follow at this point is number 8) and you will come to a ruin in the woods. There is an unmarked junction: do not take the inviting gravel road on the left, which goes uphill, but the path on the right, which goes downhill. The path, which is a little dirty and unmarked for a while, leads downhill on an old mule track and here there is a reverse sign L21. The mule track descends in steps, very nice and pleasant in the thick of the wood, and at its end just to pay attention to the next fork where go left uphill to reach the village of Capomosso. Having descended on tarmac at the beginning of the hamlet, continue to the left, gradually passing the bridge and the houses. When the road makes a sharp bend to the right, leave it to take a downhill path on the left (signpost). After heavy rainfall, it is necessary to cross a first ford, and then the path, which is clearly visible, continues on to an isolated building preceded by some wooden sculptures. Pass the house, passing a couple of benches, to reach a second ford. A short uphill flight of steps leads to a wide beaten track: a path equipped with educational panels and accessible to the disabled too; with a smooth and gradual progression you find yourself passing a typical Biella farmhouse. After this, you have to turn left and with a slight climb, you arrive at the Locanda di Brughiera, after which you arrive at the entrance to the Sanctuary of the Brughiera, two buildings divided by a green lawn and with a pleasant shaded area behind it with benches and a fountain (unchecked water).
