MOUNTAIN AND CULTURE: THE HIGHWAY OF FAITH
Thematic
Arrived at Oropa, and parked the car in the wide free parking behind the new church, take the road on the left from the cableway departure, the one that leads to Galleria Rosazza. After about 400 m on the left, you reach an open space partly used as a car park and partly as a building site. Here there is a little fountain and a little more ahead the bridge to take you to the Remembrance Park, crossed inside by the Priests' walk. The D15 path begins here. Continuing on, you come to a balcony with a splendid view of the sanctuary and a plaque in memory of the fallen of the Great War.
The easy path continues, even if it narrows down, and from here, it takes the name of Tracciolino (small path). The climb is light and leads you to the extensive pastures at the foot of Monte Cucco. The view is enchanting. The Biella area and beyond (if the weather is good) is at your feet.
This brings you to the first fork in the path. The path becomes E1 and officially passes from Oropa Valley to Cervo Valley. Here you enter a densely wooded area and the path becomes slightly less comfortable, but is practically always flat.
You arrive at another turnoff, the one leading from San Giovanni to Galleria Rosazza. Continue to the right towards the San Giovanni sanctuary. When you reach the asphalt road, turn right and after a short descent, you arrive at the sanctuary.
