Castellengo

Request information

Autonomous municipality until 1936, Castellengo is now a part of the Cossato village, whose territory coincides with the ancient Bulgaro fiefdom. In the 1600s, the Frichignono di Castellengo acquired the imposing castle, turning it from fortress into noble residence.
Today Castellengo is also renowned for the production of Nebbiolo Coste della Sesia DOC wine. The winemaking activity of this area was already developed in the 1700s, and in recent years it has been rediscovered and enhanced by many local producers.
In the lower part of the village there are the small parish church of SS. Pietro e Paolo and the Ecomuseo del Cossatese e delle Baragge.

Location: Cossato (Baraggia and Plain)
