ICE-FALLS

The Biella Alps do not have many ice-falls but those which are to be found are wonderful “goulottes” which really lend themselves to climbing and whose routes  are often rigged with steel fixtures. Caution is advisable in the presence of heavy snowfalls as on certain tracts there is the notable risk of avalanches.

SUGGESTED ICE-FALLS:

“Cascate della Vecchia” (“Vecchia” Falls): a “goulotte” which rises among the dramatic gorges of the Cervo river.

“Cascate del Lac di Bose” (“Lake Bose” Falls): A little world waiting to be discovered.
