SKI-TOURING

There is a well-developed tradition of ski-touring in the Biella Alps where the particular climatic conditions quickly make the snow suitable for this activity. Excursions are pleasantly varied, without extreme ascents but with frequent changes of landscape and slope which make them really enjoyable and in no way monotonous. Many of the tours are ideal for those who have just taken up the sport whereas other routes, whose slopes are harsh and stark, are interspersed with rock jumps and may also be difficult to find. The greatest caution is required , particularly in the event of fog, and , furthermore , this type of excursion requires high levels of ability, a good knowledge of the terrain and safe snow conditions.

Those seeking a unique and wonderful adventure could opt for the “Haute Route” of the Biella Alps where over three days and in total isolation they will cross the entire massif.

The use of “ARVA” (a device for locating avalanche victims) is recommended even for the easier excursions.

For information regarding snow conditions, do not hesitate to contact the alpine guides (www.tikesaab.com) who will keep you fully updated.

SOME SUGGESTED TOURS:

Monte Cucco: a pleasant, low-altitude excursion.

“La Muanda”: The most popular tour of the Biella Alps.

“Brik Paglie”: On gentle hillsides facing the Serra.

“Oropa- Elvo Valley” Traverse: In search of a forgotten corner of the Biella Alps.

“Oropa- Fontainemore” Traverse: The most classic of the links with the Gressoney Valley.
