The ricetto, a community cellar

The ecomuseum of Viticulture in Candelo is an integral part of the Ricetto, a monument of the XIII-XIV century enclosed by fortified ramparts which conserve its original characteristics. It's a community cellar  par excellence, a unique European example which explains the origins of the village; in fact the district was used to safeguard the most valuable possessions: the agricultural products and wine. The term ricetto (receptum) means shelter, refuge. In the 2 museum cells we can find exhibits of all the "instruments" of the vintner and some information boards.
