CLUNIAC MONASTERY OF CASTELLETTO CERVO
Former Cluniac Priory SS. Peter and Paul
Built in the 11th century, not far from the area where the remains of a Roman necropolis were discovered, the monastery soon became one of the most important Cluniac priories in Piedmont. Since 2006 it has been the subject of a systematic, multi-year programme of archaeological and historical research by the University of Eastern Piedmont "A. Avogadro". The results of the excavations and research have recently been collected in a publication. Since 2012 the site has been part of the Fédération Européenne des Sites Clunisiens, recognised as a "major cultural itinerary" by the Council of Europe.
